History and Vision

This God dream has been in the development stage for over ten years.  God has called and humbled me to create a Faith-based, Biblical-based Culinary Arts program coupled with a public Christian diner and a banquet facility.  The program will be designed to educate those in missions like the Erie City Mission, shelters for abandoned and abused women, and students looking for a faith-based culinary arts school.

The "Harvest Food Ministry" program will give those in need a skill to re-enter the workforce at an above basic skill level.  This program will establish self worth and confidence that may be lacking from homelessness and abuse.  The "Harvest" program will give students a firm foundation to be effective in the demanding as well as rewarding field of hospitality.

Students going through the apprenticeship program will have hands on training plus real life experience when they complete the program.  This will give them confidence and a market edge when entering the work force.

All students in training will design and prepare a "banquet" once a quarter to feed the poor, lame, crippled, homeless, and blind.  Students and faculty will create an environment that is pleasing to GOD, family, employer, and customers.  We will conduct ourselves and how we do business in a way that will be honoring to GOD.  For nearly eight years I did not talk about my struggles as a homeless person for fear of getting the look I got as a homeless person.

Students will know that others have walked in their shoes by GOD'S GRACE have a new life and living out GOD'S plan.

"Harvest Culinary Arts" offers each student the Serv-Safe Sanitation course and certification as well as an American Culinary Federation approved six-month Apprenticeship program.  Culinary teams would be established, which would train for competitions and to help missions.  This will develop teamwork and self esteem.  The program will develop confidence for students to go into the "world" and make a difference as well as a living.

Harvest Food Ministry will offer a GOD honoring work environment through an on sight restaurant to be named "New City Diner".  The diner would be open to the public as a Christian run diner.  There will only be Christian music on the jukebox and the menu will share the word of GOD.  "New City Diner" will be a stepping stone for students before going on to other employment and as a disciple of Christ Jesus.  Also on site would be a catering facility to be named "Kingdom Catering."  These two facilities would be the first steps for some to get back into the workforce and to build a stronger foundation to go into the world as a new child of GOD and making a difference.

Further development of this program includes "Kids Cooking for CHRIST".  This program is designed for kids 1st - 5th grade and teaches simple, healthy recipes tied to a Biblical application over the course of six weeks. We would also develop a mobile feeding program to be called "Harvest Mountain".  "Harvest Mountain" would go into trailer parks, campgrounds, and low income neighborhoods to feed and introduce kids to JESUS.
